A Dubious Milestone

Amanda has inherited Jay's knack for sarcasm without the sarcastic voice. This is the conversation we had today.

Amanda (with no inflection in her voice whatsoever): "Thank you very much, mommy".

Me: "For what, Amanda?"

Amanda (again, no inflection): "For giving my sisters stickers and not saving any for me. I really appreciate it."

I don't know if I should be proud but I think this might be her first unassisted use of sarcasm.

Why is Daddy stuck in the '70's?

So, Jay says to the girls: "If you hurry up and finish your bathes, you can watch one TV show before bed. (jokingly) What do you want to watch? The Love Boat? Little House on the Prairie? Three's Company?"

Melissa: "Why is daddy stuck in the '70's?"

Amanda: "I know. I know. Because he's old!"

Couldn't have said it better myself!

In case anyone is missing Christmas songs

First "Purpley Dress" then "Pinky Dress" and now . .

Rebecca has been wearing this bunny costume every day for the last 3 days - everywhere. We got some mighty strange looks when we went out selling girl scout cookies (Speaking of which, please let Emily and Amanda know if you want to buy any)

Crazy January Weather

it was 67 degrees on Tuesday. We got to take the bike out for one final time. Unfortunately, a few days of really warm weather wasn't enough to melt the mounds of snow bigger than Rebecca in our front yard... and now they are predicting another storm on Monday - G-d help us all!

Flat Stanley goes to Long Island

Amanda's Flat Stanley made a visit to Grandma Susan and Grandpa Gerry who live in Long Island over the Christmas holidays.

I couldn't figure out how to copy the letter in so here it is, typed:

"Flat Stanley came to visit Amanda's Grandma Susan and Grandpa Gerry in Middle Island which is on Long Island in New York.

We were so excited to find Flat Stanley in our mailbox! Grandma Susan took him to her Bridge Club - which is a place where people (mostly grandmas and grandpas) go to play a card game called bridge. Everyone was so happy to see Flat Stanley and they even let him play a game of cards with them . . . . it was so much fun!

Grandma Susan also took F.S. on her errands to the post office and Costco and the super market and other stores. I don't think that was so much fun for him.

Finally Grandma Susan and Grandpa Gerry took Flat Stanley with them on the ferry across the Long Island Sound so that they could visit Amanda and her sisters and her Mom and Dad for New Year's Eve.

We really enjoyed having Flat Stanley visit us and hope he had a good time."

Flat Stanley will be continuing his trek around the country so watch for him in your mailbox soon!
