Even Republicans have some redeeming qualities
We were listening to a story on NPR about Democrats (as so many of their stories are). The girls asked what Democrats are. I tried my best to explain. They then asked if we were Democrats. I said that I was but that they had to decide for themselves when they were 18. Amanda immediately decided to be a Democrat too. They then asked if daddy was a Democrat, Grandma Dorothy, Grandpa Stan, Grandma Susan, Grandpa Gerry, etc. I replied that daddy, Grandma Dorothy, Grandpa Stan and Grandma Susan were Democrats but Grandpa Gerry was a Republican. Becca's response: "But Grandpa still loves us, right?"

Amanda swims
We are so proud of Amanda! She just decided to swim all on her own today at the pool. (Emily already has been and Rebecca seems ok with controlled drowning).
I guess, everyone's entitled to their own opinion
Last night (at about 10:30 p.m.), I told Rebecca - for about the 100th time - to go to bed already. She looked me in the eye and said "I prefer my own rules".
Diving
Emily goes off the diving board:
As you can tell, she liked it!
Not to be outdone, Amanda then tried the diving board, although with more reservations and conditions than Emily.
Rebecca did go off the diving board, and without a floatie, but unfortunately we didn't get video of it - too busy trying to keep her from drowning. Here's Rebecca "diving" off the side of the pool though (you have to wait until after Amanda goes to see Rebecca).

Looking for Enlightenment in the Shoe Store
Last night we were coming home in the dark. The girls started in on a very deep philosophical question as to the existence of G-d because they were wondering who turned out the lights. Emily took the position that G-d was in sky and that he was everywhere. Amanda said that G-d was in people. Becca took the position that G-d did not exist. Finally, when Emily kept saying "Well then how turned out the lights?", Becca explained "Emily, I just had a shoe in front of my face."

Rebecca's First Roller Coaster
We went to Canobie Lake Park on Saturday for the annual Bose summer outing. Rebecca was SOOOOOO excited that she's finally big enough to go on a lot of the rides. Here's her reaction to the roller coaster.

Fireworks, finally
We went to fireworks in Uxbridge on July 7th. Emily, in particular, was very nervous about the fireworks and the noise but once they got started, she LOVED them. She said that it was the best day ever - fantastic! She can't wait to go again. (of course, it didn't hurt that they got to sit on top of the van to watch and got ice cream and toys and rides). The look on their faces during the fireworks finale was priceless though.
