Three Little Ducks

Rebecca and her rubber ducks starring in "Three Little Ducks Go Waddling Off."

You must be this tall to ride

Well, 2 out of 3 finally are!

Take me out to the ballgame!

We went to the Pawsox (Pawtucket Red Sox) game on Saturday night. Unfortunately, the Pawsox lost, after blowing a 5 run lead in the bottom of the 9th - it was like being at a "real" Red Sox game. Everyone had fun though. Here's a picture of the girls with Sox, the mascot.

I can't believe I get to share a room with my best friends!

Our new sleeping arrangements. We moved Rebecca into the room with Emily and Amanda - to test out all of them sharing a room before we move to Stow and also because this room has a window air conditioner in it. It was 95 degrees yesterday!

Rebecca is very excited to share with her best friends.

Rebecca's room is now a playroom. That's the plan for the new house as well. The girls will all share a room, there will be a playroom upstairs and a guest room - with a real bed again. It was the girls' idea and they all agreed on it. We hope that you will all come to visit now after we move, since we will have a real guest room again.

Pajama Party in Mrs. Sugrue's class

Check out the faux hawk on Anthony.

Friday was a Pajama Party in Amanda's kindergarten class. The kids were allowed to bring in their favorite stuffed animal (surprisingly, Amanda chose her new puppy, not a bunny) and to wear pajamas to school I went in and help the kids make Ocean mobiles. A picture of Amanda's is above.

Emily is feeling much better

Emily on Wednesday.

Emily now.

Emily had a really bad bug over the last week and gave us quite a scare. We had to take her into the hospital on Thursday to have her rehydrated but that seemed to do the trick. She hasn't thrown up since then and actually ate half a waffle this morning. Amanda had the same thing last week, only not as bad. Let's everyone keep our fingers crossed that Rebecca doesn't get it.

Rebecca's School Photos

After many delays, we finally got Rebecca's school photos. Isn't she adorable?

My best is

Every night at dinner we go around the table and everyone says what the best thing that happened that day is, the worst and the funniest. Rebecca doesn't quite understand that this is supposed to be a reflection on that day's events. Every day, without fail, her best is
"that mommy stays home." Makes it all worth it!

What it means to be 6

These videos are from the night before Emily and Amanda's 6th birthday.

I'm not that old!

Rebecca: Mommy, were you a baby a long, long time ago?
Melissa: Yes, Becca
Rebecca: Were there cavemen there?

thanks, Becca

Lana's Birthday Party

Amanda attended her friend Lana's birthday party last weekend. Here is a picture of Amanda and her school friends from the party. Lana is the girl next to Amanda.

Big Katie's Visit

Our former au pair, Katerina (Katie) Hoelz came, with her boyfriend, to visit us from Germany. The girls were very excited to see her, including Rebecca who swears she remembers Katie even though she was only 2 days old when Katie left.

Katie brought Emily and Amanda make-up kits as a birthday gift.

Vital Stats

Emily and Amanda had their 6 year check-up last Thursday. Here are the stats:

Emily – 38 lbs (12th percentile); 42 inches (5th percentile)

Amanda – 34 lbs (1st percentile); 42 inches (5th percentile)

Amanda had had a stomach bug for a couple of days before this though. Emily has it now.

Mother's Day 2007

Mother’s Day - May 13, 2007

The girls were very excited. Rebecca kept coming in to wake me up and say “Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy.”

When I came downstairs, the girls presented me with a mother’s day basket, with pictures, bunny cookies and beautiful lilies.

Then it was off to the Duckling Day Parade at the Boston Public Gardens. We had a picnic and then walked in the parade but the most exciting part for the girls was that they all got new rubber ducks and duck whistles.

The children made us gifts and cards and performed a show – Old McDonald had a Band. They were very serious about it.

They also made us donut muffins.

Emily wanted to be part of the blog too

May 10, 2007 – Emily and Amanda’s 6th Birthday

The girls woke up early, especially for a school day and immediately asked if they could open their presents. They were very excited about their presents, especially the Webkinz! Check out the great video of the girls opening their presents.

I tried to explain to Amanda and Emily that at the time they woke up – approximately 7:30 a.m., Emily was technically 6 but Amanda wasn’t yet because of the exact time of their birth. Amanda did not take it well – thank goodness it was only a few minutes until Amanda was 6 too.

The girls brought cupcakes into school for their birthday. They were very excited to bring one to the principal, Miss Brown, and the secretary and gym teacher and to pick their cupcake helper in their classes. You also get to pick whichever class job you want – how exciting.

After school, the girls wanted to play with their new toys – sidewalk chalk and paint – and a very complicated game called Buzz Lightyear and the Queen, involving Amanda’s new Buzz Lightyear and Emily’s new bobble headed cat (the “Queen”). This game was invented at the haircut place waiting for their turn and playing with the McDonald’s toys left there.

And then, of course, the obligatory trip to Chuck E Cheese for dinner. Emily found a game she really loved and did really well at – it involved sliding the coin into a slot and getting that number of tickets. She was very lucky, she thought because it was her birthday. Emily exclaimed that this was the best day ever and her heart was filled with joy. We have great video of the “Happy Dance”.

Emily and Amanda's 6th Birthday Party

Emily and Amanda had their 6th birthday party on May 5, 2007 at Plaster Fun Time in Natick.
